Psychedelic substances: a mental health opportunity?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 300 million people around the world are suffering from depression, but many of them do not respond to standard pharmacotherapeutic interventions. But new research on the therapeutic potential of psychedelic substances could offer a new solution to the problem.

More and more trials indicate that these substances can help ease the suffering of at least some individuals with a broad spectrum of disorders, such as depression, addiction or existential crises.

Krytyka polityczna turned got experts to dive deeper into the topic. Sociologist and writer Maciej Lorenc, psychotherapist Michał Lasocik and neurocognitive scientist Anastasiia Ruban explain the potential of psychedelic substances and weigh in on possible risks.
