Can we party without alcohol?

In Poland, many health experts believe there is booze problem. As authorities started to promote beers over vodka two decades ago to reduce health risk linked to alcohol consumption, most recent statistics indicate that those both types of alcohol actually increased in the last 5 years. According to the OECD – the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – in the next 30 years, between alcohol-related diseases and injuries caused by drinking, the average life expectancy in Poland will be shortened by 1.6 years.
For our monthly theme on parties and festivals, Sphera Network member Krytyka Polityczna explored the links between binge-drinking and parties. From weak advertising rules to influencers promoting alcohol, this is an entire business model detrimental to public health.
