The European Commission published in December 2021 a Directive for the improvement of working conditions on digital platforms. The new rules will ensure that people working through digital labour platforms can enjoy the labour rights and social benefits they are entitled to. Up to 5.5 million workers on the continent are incorrectly classified as self-employed.
