In Ukraine, environment has become another victim of the war

The victims are not only human. The losses are not only material. The earth, the air and the environment are also affected. This is what I noticed during my various reports from Ukraine. In June 2023, everyone was able to make the same observation as they watched the shocking images of flooded villages, poisoned water and people fleeing their homes.

By destroying the Kakhovka dam, the Russian army had provoked what Ukrainian officials called “the worst ecological disaster after Chernobyl”.

For the second video of the series “Off the trail”, @erebmedia journalist Astrig Agopian travelled to Kharkiv, Zaporizhya and Kyiv regions of Ukraine to document the environmental destruction caused by the war.
