Activists for climate, and against the meat industry

In recent decades, the production of meat and the quantity of meat farms has grown in Spain. As a consequence, negative impacts on the territories can be felt more than ever.

From farm waste to excessive fertilizer use, there are alarming signs that animal agriculture needs better regulation.

In Retamoso de la Jara, a town of barely 100 inhabitants located in the province of Toledo, there are two pig farm projects for 2,200 and 7,200 pigs each.

Local activists from the organisation Retamoso Sostenible are trying to stop their construction. ‪@elsaltotv‬ is a Sphera Network member and this story is part of our “Animals and Humans” series.
