Museums, too, struggle with political control in Europe

While Europe frequently champions freedom of speech, press, and expression, cultural and artistic freedoms receive far less public attention.

Yet there exists one institution often perceived as neutral and authoritative—the museum—that proves surprisingly vulnerable to external pressures, particularly those of a political nature.

In the second episode of our “EUreka” series, we spoke with Paulina Florjanowicz, Director of the National Institute of Museums in Poland, who has spearheaded the development of a barometer measuring museums’ political independence across Europe.
