Hungary: A social farm run by foundations is in trouble

The Baráthegy farm of the Symbiosis Foundation is the largest of 5 sites where about 100 people live and work every day. The residents are people with autism or coming from child welfare who found a community at the farm. To face the electricity price rise, they have to go down to the minimum which has never happened in the past 23 years. They had to close a part of the cheese factory’s capacity, suspended the jam and the juice factory where the electricity and gas consumption were very high. They even sold most of their goats or anything they don’t need to function in order to save money, and thus the farm.
