Sex work in Greece: can the stigma ever end?

Sex work is technically legal in Greece, however, most of the brothels cannot meet the requirements and they operate illegally.

And sex work is not recognized as work, which prohibits the workers from claiming their rights. This situation goes hand in hand with racism. The demand from the sex workers worldwide is to decriminalize sex work. In Greece, the Sex Worker’s Empowerment Network was founded just 3 years ago, in 2021.

Their main goals are to empower and support sex workers, to combat the stigma associated with sex work and to defend the workers’ human rights.
