Dana in Valencia: The worst climate catastrophe in European history

More than 200 people have lost their lives and hundreds of thousands have been affected by
the consequences of the terrible floods in Valencia, Spain.

The day after the flood, hundreds of thousands remained isolated, locked in their
homes without electricity, running water, telephone or internet coverage. The streets of their
towns were filled with wrecked cars, washed away by the water, mud, vegetation and even
the bodies of victims swept away by the water.

The quick response of citizens saved many people from dying of hunger or thirst in the days following the catastrophe. El Salto’s Yago Álvarez travelled to Valencia to see for himself.
