Greece VS Hungary: the cost of housing

Tenants in Greece and Hungary are overburdened with housing costs. Countries with inefficient welfare state show very high rates of home ownership. Exactly because the channeling of savings towards acquiring a home is a very important dimension for human life itself due to state deficiencies and the lack of redistributive policies. It’s linked to a deeper structural problem in both countries and impacts young people the most as they cannot afford their own housing and are forced to cohabitation.
